Mark Gregory has over 25 years experience in the Fire Service. He is a Lieutenant in the FDNY assigned to Tower Ladder 111 and previously worked in Rescue 2 and Ladder 132. Mark instructs for the FDNY and Suffolk County Fire Academies. He is a partner for P.L. Vulcan Fire Training Concepts and a regular writer for Urban Firefighter. Along with Pat Nichols, Mark hosts "From Tillers to Towers" on Fire Engineering's Blog Radio.
He is a 29 year veteran of the fire service. He was a volunteer firefighter with the Newington, CT. Fire Dept. for 5 yrs. Until becoming a full time paid firefighter with the City of New Britian, CT. Fire Dept. Lt. Klett spent 4 yrs. as a New Britain firefighter until his appointment to the New York City Fire Department in 1990. where worked in Engine Co.69 in Harlem for12 years, one of the FDNY’s busiest Engines, until his promotion. He currently works in the Bronx and is assigned to Engine Co.88 in the 7th div. Lt. Klett was also a HOT instructor for Live Fire Training at the F.D.I.C. and F.D.I.C West and has served as the lead instructor for the same. He also developed the Engine Company Operations course for “Firescue Interactive’s” training facility in Indianapolis and serves as the lead Engine instructor for the school. Lt. Klett is a certified New York State instructor and frequently speaks about Engine Company Operations and other fire related topics. He is also an adjunct instructor for the Connecticut State Fire School and the Author of “ Stretching and Operating the First Line” and “Stand-pipe operations for the Engine Company” produced as “Fire Notes” by the Fire Department Training Network. He has also written several articles for “FireEngineering”, “Firehouse”, “Firehouse.Com” , “Size-up” and “Fire Rescue Interactive” Lt Klett has also served on the FDNY’s research and development team which developed the departments new PSS safety system.
He is a Firefighter/Paramedic with the Ocean City Fire Department as Lead Instructor Training Division. Previous experience includes United States Navy Engineman/ Damage Control team (U.S.S. Sumter LST 1181), Shipboard Firefighting, Advanced Shipboard Firefighting, Advanced Damage Control training, Millville Volunteer Fire Company Past Training Officer and Past Deputy Chief, Delaware State Fire School Fire Instructor, Sussex County Emergency Medical Services Paramedic Captain. Magee is also an active instructor for Strike the Box Training
He began his fire service career in 1994 as a volunteer in his hometown located in the suburbs of Philadelphia. Since then he has served as a career/volunteer firefighter in Pennsylvania, Maryland, and Virginia. He holds a bachelors degree in fire science from the University of Maryland and a masters degree in management from the Public Safety Executive Leadership program at the Johns Hopkins University.
Nick is a Sergeant with the District of Columbia Fire Department, and has served on engine company, truck/tower companies, and as a battalion aide. He is also a firefighter with the Kentland Volunteer Fire Department.
Ray McCormack is a 29 year veteran of the FDNY and a Lieutenant assigned to Ladder Company 28 in Harlem. He is the Publisher and Editor of Urban Firefighter Magazine. His weekly fire service safety column Tactical Safety and his Engine Company Training Minutes videos can be seen at urbanfirefighter.com. He created and produced Urban Essentials the largest HOT class at FDIC this year. Lieutenant McCormack has taught at many fire conferences and academies throughout the country on operational tactics and leadership. He delivered the Keynote address at FDIC in 2009.
He is a firefighter with the Toledo (OH) Fire Department. His career started in 1994 as a volunteer firefighter with the Gibsonburg (OH) VFD and he previously served with the Fremont (OH) Fire Department. Jamie is an Ohio certified Fire Instructor, FDIC HOT Instructor and lecturer on Truck Operations. He also works for the Brotherhood Instructors LLC, and has authored articles for Fire Engineering, Fire Department Training Network, and Fire Nuggets.
He is a 25 year veteran with the Boston, Massachusetts FD. He joined the Department in 1986 and was assigned to Engine 22 and then Ladder 10. Promoted to Lieutenant in 1991 and assigned to Ladder 26 “Huntington Ave Express” for the next 13 years before transferring to Rescue 2. In 2005, after being promoted to Captain, he was assigned to Ladder 25 and then returned to Ladder 26 until 2008 when he transferred to Tower Ladder 10, where he currently is the company commander. Pat has been an Instructor with the Massachusetts Fire Academy since 199 1.Pat presents lectures around the country for various Fire Service organizatios and is a frequent writer for Urban Firefighter Magazine. Pat is a member of FEMA’s Massachusetts Urban Search and Rescue team, MATF-1, where he is a Rescue Squad Officer. Pat began his fire service career with the Naugatuck Volunteer Rescue Squad in 1977 where he served until his appointment to the BFD.
He is a 23-year veteran of the BCFD and is currently working as the Captain of Rescue 1, the only Heavy Rescue in the City of Baltimore. He has been an officer for 13 plus years. He has worked in engines and trucks as well as a member of various specialized Rescue teams such as the BCFD Dive Rescue Team, The Special Operations Team, and a member of a Type 3 Incident Management Team. Captain Payne has served with the Maryland Search and Rescue Task Force 2 Team as a Hazardous Materials Specialist. Captain Payne currently travels the country training in various disciplines. Captain Payne also instructs as an adjunct Instructor at the Baltimore City Fire Academy. Captain Payne has also traveled to France to instruct in Fire Service and Dive Rescue Team Operations, is also traveling to South Korea to assist in various training procedures
He is currently the Division Chief of Operations for the Clearwater Fire & Rescue. Chief Riley previously served as the Chief of the Kentland Volunteer Fire Department in Prince George’s County, MD from 1999 to 2005, where he is currently still an active member of the department.
He began his fire service career in Ocean City, MD in 1979 and moved to the Washington, D.C. area in 1983 to become a career firefighter in Fairfax County, VA. Ricky is the co-founder and the President of the Traditions Training LLC training group.
Ron Smith is a 21 year veteran of the fire service, he has served the last 13 years with the Gary (IN) Fire Department, where he is an Engineer assigned to Truck Co. #1. He is an adjunct instructor for the department's Training Divison, the Indiana DHS Firefighter Training System, and at the Fire Department Training Network. He is a H.O.T. Instructor for Engine Company Essentials at the Fire Department Instructors Conference in Indianapolis.
